- Student travel bursary applicants must submit their abstract by 6 August 2018 for consideration
- Submit the abstracts using the Submit Abstract link below.
- In addition to submitting the abstract, please complete the Abstract Submission Form and submit the form using the Abstract Submission Form link below.
You will be notified of the acceptance of your abstract within one week of submission. If you submit your abstract by the deadline, you will receive notification in time for the early bird registration.
An abstract is required for each invited talk and for each poster. Based on the abstracts, poster presenters may be invited by the organising committee to give an oral presentation at one of the regular or “Quick Fire” sessions. Note that invited plenary and keynote speakers are also required to provide an abstract, but a poster is not expected.
You must be registered for the conference in order to submit an abstract (one abstract per registrant). Please use the form below to submit abstracts. The abstracts should be no longer than 250 words (1500 characters maximum). Please use Times Roman size 12 font and justify both margins. The titles should be in boldface and less than 100 characters. The authors’ names should be in capital letters and the institutions in italics. The presenting author’s name should be underlined. Do not include references, figures or tables in the abstract. Abstracts not complying with these instructions will be rejected.
Note that these abstracts are used as part of the basis for awarding the student travel bursaries. So please indicate whether or not you are applying for a travel bursary. The deadline for travel bursary applications is 6 August 2018.
There will be poster prizes for students. Please indicate whether you are eligible and would like to be considered for a poster award when you submit the abstract.

Posters should be in portrait format and 90 cm wide x 120 cm high. Note that landscape posters or larger posters will not fit on the poster display boards and cannot be accepted. In designing your poster, remember to use a font size and style that can be read from a distance of 2 metres. Also consider the colour of both the background and lettering so the poster will be legible.
Posters will be on display throughout the meeting but poster viewing sessions will be held during lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Posters should be mounted on the afternoon of Monday, 12th November in Hall 2 of the National Wine Centre based on the assigned number. Posters must be on display no later than 9 am on Monday (12th November) and must remain on display until 2 pm on Wednesday (14th November). All posters must be collected by 5:30 pm on Wednesday (14th November) or they will be removed and destroyed.
Even numbered posters should be attended from 1 - 2 pm on Monday and odd numbered posters should be attended from 1 - 2 pm on Tuesday. On Wednesday, all posters should be attended from 1 - 2 pm.
Pins will be provided to mount the posters. If Velcro is preferred, then you should bring your own. In an emergency, you can have your poster printed in Adelaide, but please note that most printing shops are not open on the weekends. Officeworks is one exception and they have a shop in the Adelaide business district at 69 Gawler Place (https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/storepage/W512/SA/Adelaide-CBD). So please consider bringing an electronic copy of your poster with you, just in case your poster is lost in transit.
There are poster prizes for students. Please indicate whether you would like to be considered for a poster award when you submit the abstract. Note that the poster prizes will be awarded at the end of the conference.
Lastly, please be aware that if abstracts are submitted but the posters are not presented at the conference, then the abstracts will be withdrawn and will not be published or available on the ISAFG or FAANG website. Therefore, please ensure that your poster is on display during the entire conference to avoid disappointment.
All speakers (including invited plenary and keynote presenters) are requested to provide an abstract (see above), but no papers or posters are required.
Details regarding the presentation format will be sent to speakers closer to the conference date. However, all speakers should plan to email their presentation to the organisers (email@example.com) prior to departure so that the slide format can be checked before the conference starts. If changes are made to the presentation after submission, please upload and review your slides at the conference venue at least one session prior to your talk. Presenters speaking on Monday morning (12th November) should upload their presentations upon arrival at 7:30 am if changes have been made.
